I don’t know this pup’s name. I don’t know if it’s a male or female. I only know they are the sweetest. They belong to my neighbor. They are beautiful. They are brave. They are typically kept safely in their back yard. He/she has a brother or sister, and they frolic on their lawn.
Their owners are nice people, but I don’t know them well. In fact, I’m a hermit and don’t interact too much with my neighbors. That’s okay. I’m not feeling too bad about that.
However, when the neighbors have gone away to do their thing, Border Collie decides to escape. And today, it was easily 88 degrees in New Mexico, the high desert.
I was driving back from running errands, my own dogs with me in my car, when I noticed the Houdini. I told him/her, he had to go back home as he wandered on the road, and miraculously, they listened. I led them back to their yard, and they stayed. I think…
For the meantime, I decided they needed water because it’s very hot and I’m uncertain when the owners will be back. So, I fill up a pot of water and take it the sweet Houdini and take it out to them where they are smartly laying in the shade under their tree. It’s my first time petting them and getting close enough to see they are very well fed and happy.
So, folks, if you have your own furry Houdini neighbor, especially during the hot weather, do give them water and let them know they aren’t alone!
Many blessings, Sandi
