The day she fell out of the sky

That cute little face on the right side of me, is Azra. She’s been my furkid since September 2014. I keep telling her that she’s very photogenic, still, she shies away from the camera. Today, I was able to photo bomb the both of us, even though I myself am not a selfie-taker.

On that fateful day in September, my mom and I were on our way home from shopping at the nearest town. My mom suddenly lets out a cry of concern when she says, “Oh no, I hope that little dog doesn’t get hit by a car.”

During which I said, “What?”, in panic. I was driving and didn’t notice any dog on the road. She then pointed to where she saw the dog, and I slowed down and made a u-turn and finally saw the dog on the median. I parked my car haphazardly, got out, and went to see if I could calm her down, and pick her up. She let me.

That was it. I was dismayed. No collar, no indication of where she may have come from. She sat silently, shaking and quiet on the way home. At first, I thought she was blind. She wouldn’t make eye contact with me or my mom. She was petrified. The following day, I drove around the area where we found her and asked the people at the nearby gas station and other businesses if anyone recognized her. Everyone was clueless. I also asked the animal shelter to let people know I had her in case she was lost.

The interesting part was, it had only been about seven months that I had lost my dog and buried him, and was absolutely broken. I had sworn off getting any fur-kids anytime soon. Until Azra came along. Soon, I realized no one was going to claim her and so, she was a gift from God. Today, we’re thick as thieves, until I pull out my cell phone and point it at her!

Thanks for stopping by folks! Many blessings, Sandi
